In our Gospel for today, our Lord is teaching us the most central meaning of what it means to be his follower: Love of God and love of neighbor. At first, it sounds easy, but it really isn’t as easy as it sounds.
Love of God needs to be primary in our lives. In all our daily activities we need to act in ways that clearly show that we are followers of Jesus Christ. We need to love God with our whole mind, heart and soul. God must be central in all our thoughts and activities. We need to act with love and integrity in all our activities during the day
The next challenge is to love our neighbors as ourselves. This can be very difficult since many people are challenging to even to like. But we are not called to like them, we are called to love them.
As you go through your day today, try to keep God central in your thoughts as you do your daily activities. Also, as you deal with people, treat them with love and respect as children of God. In this way we are bringing God’s love to all that we encounter.

ReplyDeleteAMEN. I believe that I am living by these two greatest Commandments, but then I need to question if I really love GOD with my WHOLE heart, soul, mind & strength, because I could be holding back, maybe because of fear of suffering or maybe because I have my own agenda.
But I definitely believe that I believe that Our LORD and my faith as a Catholic Christian is at the center of my life & that every aspect of my life is supposed to flow TO Him & FROM Him.
And loving our neighbor is an active of the will & not an emotion. The world's definition of "love" is a feeling stronger than "like". The Biblical definition of love is willing the good of the other & doing good for the other. I can personally dislike someone but still wish & will the best for him/her, pray for him/her, & make use of opportunities to help & do what is good for him/her if he/she is in need.
Very lucky to have wonderful neighbors. I do love them very much. Always there for each other. As for our Lord. I love him above all and talk to him every day and every night.
